Question

Hey Original Authority,

A friend of mine told me about this new project and I'd be eager to help out and join you as I have some experience with wikis myself. Would you mind giving me, or us collectively more information about what your plans are for this wiki. Some questions I'd be interested in would be:

  • What's the plan for running this wiki? (community governance, central governance)
  • What are the technical specs?
  • What will the main rules about content be?

Thrash (talk) 14:25, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

Hi, Thrash, firstly, apoligies for the error you recieved when trying to leave this message on my talk page — I've fixed the error now and moved the thread to my talk page; hopefully it's easier to keep track of here.
I'm a little confused as to who the "us" is in this scenario, it would be nice to have a more detailed explanation? I will be formalising a content policy a little bit later on today, and hopefully this will aid in understanding and clear a few things up on the wikis that the Platform will be willing to host. In terms of governance, I guess it follows a "regular wiki" set-up kind of thing; communities are ran by administrators/bureaucrats, but ultimately, the Company reserves the right to modify any wiki at any moment.
In regards to the "technical specs", the Platform runs on MW 1.38.2 and we will upgrade when 1.39 is released for LTS in November; I don't think it's really necessary to know any further specifications other than this — you can check out other information at Special:Version, but at the moment I don't think it's needed to divulge any further information.
Thank you, let me know if you have any further questions! — Original Authority[talk] 14:45, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
Apologies for my slightly late reply - I was caught up with non-wiki matters. The 'us' I had in mind was basically the small community of users that I've seen via RecentChanges that I imagine are interested and eager to see where this project will lead. I would just like to say that if you need any help with anything on-wiki such as organization or such I would be glad to be of assistance. Looking forward to it! Thrash (talk) 18:59, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
@Thrash, Don't worry about it — real life happens sometimes (actually, all of the time I guess). Thank you! We're still in early stages at the moment, but you can hop over into the Discord server if you like, which is also only just up and running! I'll let you know if there is anything specific, but at the moment anything you see that you think you can assist with feel free to jump in! — Original Authority[talk] 19:02, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

general pedia

Hi, please i can build general pedia in whiki wiki??--Msnhinet8 (talk) 10:43, 25 November 2022 (UTC)

In accordance with the Whiki Content Policy, such 'general pedia' scopes are not allowed. You have been rejected multiple times on this. At this point it should be obvious that a scope with zero specificity cannot and will not be accepted nor is there anything it would bring to this platform, indeed to any wiki farm as requested. To be clear I am not representing the platform; rather, I think OA would appreciate not having to repeat the same clear refusal for yet a third time. --Raidarr (talk) 12:27, 25 November 2022 (UTC)
ok, thanks.--Msnhinet8 (talk) 14:49, 25 November 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for replying to this, @Raidarr. Unfortunately, as Raidarr mentioned, this wiki, nor any of your requests meet the Platform's content policy, linked above. Hence, they have all been declined. The one wiki that was accepted, Spongebobpedia, has been closed as it was never edited after you requested it. Furthermore, you seem to have a history of creating and dumping wikis shortly after creating on Miraheze, so its unlikely that a request from you would be approved unless it is detailed, has relevant scope, and is going to be active. Original Authority[talk] 23:29, 25 November 2022 (UTC)
ok,thanks.--Msnhinet8 (talk) 01:27, 26 November 2022 (UTC)

New Qualitipedia giving me errors

When I try to edit a page or do anything it says "You are not allowed to execute the action you have requested." It was working fine earlier, but suddenly it decided to glitch and it doesn't allow me to do anything. -Blastoise

@Blastoise, Can you try again now, it should be fixed? --Original Authority[talk] 14:37, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
It's fixed now, thanks. -Blastoise

plant wiki

  • Hi, i can request a plant wiki?--Msnhinet8 (talk) 04:53, 16 December 2022 (UTC)
@Msnhinet8, No, clearly, that doesn't fall within the remit of the Content Policy. --Original Authority[talk] 04:55, 16 December 2022 (UTC)
ok, thanks.--Msnhinet8 (talk) 04:58, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

A request

About the Content Policy, why can't we make pages about websites, online content, sports, music, software, books, gameplay, companies, television networks/channels, etc.? We don't have to have pages on people (though I don't see what's wrong with it as long as it's sourced, especially if they're not a social media user). Money12123 (talk) 23:29, 19 March 2023 (UTC)

Howdy, @Money12123, can you point to which part of the content policy forbids such media that you mentioned? Wikis must oblige with the category they were placed in at the time of request and further creation. If you're referring to New Qualitipedia Wiki, this is gaming, television, and movies. Television channels/network falls into the category of television/movie, so that would not be a problem/issue. Since New Qualitipedia is not in the book vertical, it cannot contain media to do with books — one would need to request that the vertical is changed for this. If the administrators over at NQ Wiki wish to do this, please ask them to file a Phorge ticket and we can discuss changing the vertical to include books.
Please let me know if theres something else I've missed or if I'm misunderstading your question. Enjoy the rest of the weekend (or the week, if that has already started for you!) --Original Authority[talk] 00:48, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
I believe that Money is referring to this part of the Content Policy:
Telepedia will only host wikis on certain topics. These are detailed below:
Television or Streaming Service series;
Movies or movie franchise;
Games, whether this is a Console, PC, Steam, etc;
Anime and/or Manga series;
Books or Comic series.
A later part of the Content Policy says this: Wiki content must, under all circumstances, adhere to the category in which it was placed when the wiki was requested and subsequently founded. Wiki content deviating from this will be deleted, and if subsequent breaches occur, the wiki may face closure and eventual deletion if the issue is not fixed. Eventually, it is hoped that wikis will be sorted under tags and categories to allow greater flexibility, but this has not yet been implemented. This strongly implies that any content that doesn't fall into the five categories listed above is not allowed. Tali64³ (talk) 18:42, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
@Tali64³, I see. There's nothing explicitly prohibiting the creation of pages about people (such as cast members, writers, etc) within a wiki, similarly, within a wiki one may create articles about companies such if they're relevant. For example, one may create an article about Netflix, Paramount, or something like that, if they are the distributor of a particular media in relation to the wiki — if that makes sense? What I don't want is wikis solely based on those things. -- Original Authority[talk] 15:42, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
Sorry for the late reply, but what about the other subjects that I listed? 2001:8003:742F:9100:C458:6840:ECC1:47FE 00:55, 15 April 2023 (UTC)

Creating a Wiki

Hello, I want to create a my own wiki but I'm getting a error for no permission in every time while I'm trying to create a wiki, so I must know how to make a own wiki and can I get a permission for that? Szczypak 64 20:45, April 06 2023 (GMT+2)

@Szczypak64, you need to request a wiki at Special:RequestWiki. -- Original Authority[talk] 19:32, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
But I get an error that I don't have permission to do this, can I get permission to do this? Szczypak 64 08:47, April 07 2023 (GMT+2)
@Szczypak64, seems like there was a temporary permission issue – can you try now, it should be fixed? -- Original Authority[talk] 12:15, 7 April 2023 (UTC)

About Reception Wikis

Is it possible to create your own Reception Wiki on this farm if someone doesn't quite like the one run by CJWorldGame or are we all stuck with New Qualitipedia? Szczypak 64 17:40, April 15 2023 (GMT+2)

@Szczypak: Not really — New Qualitipedia was an exception to the rule, given the history, and as it stands, I've been heavily keeping an eye on its running to ensure it isn't descending into the old ways. What exactly don't you like about the one ran by CJ? Perhaps you could raise these concerns with him? -- Original Authority[talk] 16:43, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
At times, the principles he leads can be questionable at times, as he seems to be more attuned to the QP-hating community than to contributing members. One of the best examples is that he banned the copying or importing of pages from Qualitipedia, even though Telepedia doesn't prohibit it at all, as long as it says it's from another wiki, which I don't like very much. Miraheze prohibits the creation of new Reception Wikis and ShoutWiki has a broken builder, while Fandom is very quick to close wikis that criticize anything and editthis.info is seriously flawed. Szczypak 64 19:12, April 16 2023 (GMT+2)

The main reason why I prohibited copy pasting pages is because it defeats the purpose of making a reboot. Doing that misses the entire point of a reboot. A reboot should fix things, not suffering again. About you saying that I'm more attuned to QP hating members than contributing members, let me explain: I interact with them on Discord, and obviously they don't want to talk about QP anymore and generally dislike my idea of rebooting it, but I do understand their reasonings. Sure, I might not agree with some of those reasons but most of them are actually valid. A great example is when the hi speed skate compared an average QP page to a rant. The latter actually feels like the player actually played it, you can feel how is it like to play the game by reading the rant. QP pages are basically comments you would find on YouTube. So, after that, I decided to follow their reasons for disliking QP and try to address them in the reboot. CJWorldGame32125 (talk) 17:42, 16 April 2023 (UTC)

CJWorldGame, if I were you, I wouldn't worry about them at all, because they don't care about Qualitipedia anymore, rather they want it to disappear and they can cause riots to make it happen, that's why I was going to ban all such daredevils from The New Reception Wiki because they are parasites that just complain and do nothing. I would focus much more on those who contribute because they are the fuel for the network, not people from the outside, and they are of course the most faithful. You may think otherwise, but I think Qualitipedia's supporters are the most important, not opponents. Szczypak 64 20:11, April 16 2023 (GMT+2)
Dude, calm down with what you're saying. Don't call people who don't care about QP parasites, alright? They're good people, and some of them thought me genuine criticism I shoud follow. Plus, the probability of your mentality that they will riot QP is extremely low and even contradictory, because if they don't care about, why they would riot it? Plus, some of the users even made accounts there. Sure, they contributed just a few times but they didn't vandalize it. And those users are my friends, dude, that's why I trust them. Keep in mind that prohibiting copy pasting pages is something even Original Authority agrees it's a good idea. CJWorldGame32125 (talk) 11:13, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
I did recommend that pages not be copied from other sources, as CJ said. Mostly because this hurts SEO and reduces visibility — I did not make this a condition of hosting NQ wiki, however, and CJ is free to import pages as he sees fit as long as they follow the attribution and licensing details. I assume, as CJ stated, that he wants to build a better Qualitipedia and as a result, pages must be better and written from scratch. This seems like a local issue, and as a result, I will be abstaining from further comments on the matter. Please resolve this civily between one another -- Original Authority[talk] 20:26, 17 April 2023 (UTC)

I don't need this account anymore so please lock it since I am not planning to edit any wiki like miraheze wiki telepedia wiki wikimedia wiki fandom wiki etc.

Real Life Villains Wikia

First, I would like to say thank you for approving RLVW! Second, I need a bit of help. I am not entirely sure how to import the dump from our previous site onto the new site. Do you know how to do that and can you help me? Rangerkid51 (talk) 12:36, 15 June 2023 (UTC)

Howdy, @Rangerkid51, your first port of call would be to try Special:Import (on RLVW), and see if you can import the pages there. I suspect, however, that your file may be too big for S:I, and in that instance, please request an import on this wiki at Special:RequestImportDump; add the file to your request and I can do it from the command line. -- Original Authority[talk] 16:28, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
I tried to follow the request import dump link but it says I don't have permission. Rangerkid51 (talk) 16:31, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
@Rangerkid51, can you try accessing it again, please? It should be fixed now. -- Original Authority[talk] 17:59, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
It said "entity too large". What do I do if that happens? Rangerkid51 (talk) 19:18, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
@Rangerkid51, that's odd, how big is the file? Can you upload it to something like File.io and share with me the link? I'm presuming it doesn't exceed 2GB? -- Original Authority[talk] 19:23, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
It says it's 1.90 GB on my computer, but when I tried to upload it to file.io, it said it was exactly 2 GB. It said there was an error there too. I'm guessing it's still too big? Rangerkid51 (talk) 19:28, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
Never mind, it worked the second time! https://file.io/iKp7i0XV03lp Rangerkid51 (talk) 19:32, 15 June 2023 (UTC)

The dump is importing now! Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other issues! Replies on Discord will be quicker, but I'll see replies on here as well. -- Original Authority[talk] 19:59, 15 June 2023 (UTC)

Great! Thanks again! Also, I have one last question - is the CategoryGallery extension available (or something similar where the article's header images can be seen in the category page?) Rangerkid51 (talk) 20:37, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
Do you have a link to the extensions page on mw.org, or something similar? From my experience, that is a Fandom only extension. Original Authority[talk] 00:11, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
I just checked and it looks like its been archived, so never mind 🤣 Rangerkid51 (talk) 11:50, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
What's done is done, but this is precisely the sort of wiki that has been soundly rejected from Miraheze for "disruptive behaviour and/or negative press", that is now two of the top offenders from Miraheze reputationally which have made a home on Telepedia. If this is the course so be it, I just hope this was thought through. --Raidarr (talk) 09:47, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
We're going to do better in the management of this wikia this time around. I promise that. Rangerkid51 (talk) 11:50, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
Raidarr, I was not aware that this wiki posed any drama on Miraheze, nor for the reason that it was closed, other than "unsourced articles". I will look into this; if you have any further insight, please DM me on Discord or something with additional details so I can investigate. I have locked the wiki for the interim. -- Original Authority[talk] 12:06, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
RLV recieved rather frequent reports regarding its subject matter which included far too much unsourced, heavily biased, and potentially libelous content. Its removal was not as famous as Qualitipedia but the removal was more clear cut: it was terminated because it could not address these issues for how pervasive they are and I would personally lack confidence that the same operators are going to suddenly make it all right the next time. If it's starting from scratch it may have a chance to form in a coherent way, but it will always attract a unique audience ranging from trolls to grudge holders to incensed third parties who won't appreciate what shows up on the wiki. In purpose it is only coincidentally relevant to entertainment, with its entertainment(actor actress etc) content being subject to a higher proportion of bias from my cursory glances. It's a hot potato. I suppose the hinge here is a) if you want to risk the high maintenance part (to be fair it likely won't be much worse than what qualitipedia attracts under scrutiny) and b) if you are assured or willing to chance that the especially problematic content can be curbed. --Raidarr (talk) 21:35, 16 June 2023 (UTC)

Fanon Wikis

I have a question. How do fanon wikis work for the content policy? I'm asking since it doesn't say that anything about them. (BTW, I was inactive for months now, but I've decided to return after someone brought up NQ). --BrownieTheAlien (talk) 02:31, 19 September 2023 (UTC)

Good evening, there isn't anything at the moment in the CP about Fanon wikis; you're welcome to make a request and I'll take a look. Fanon wikis at the moment will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. --Original Authority[talk] 22:12, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

About CJWorldGame32125 (From Szczypak64)

Yes, I know this is off topic, but this is the best place to be, especially since the chances of him noticing are slim, so yes, he seems incompetent. First of all, he is not nice to me, for example he deleted one of my blogs for being "narcissistic" despite the fact that it was a blog with jokes, abbreviated BGE (Bad Page Example), he also put me on the administrator's blacklist even though I am one of the quite active and constructive users. Not only that, he also intended to demote Robin for being "too active for criticism" and "irresponsible" even though he had done even more than CJ himself, and also considered it wrong to claim that the New QP is better than the original even though it was not he has nothing wrong with expressing his opinion and even wanted to completely ban one of my colleagues even though he didn't deserve it and contributed a constructive fact overall. He even blocked the page for an indefinite period of time, allowing only administrators to edit it althourh it wasn't a template, main page nor admin page, which is quite questionable to me. If I can count on your help, I will be very grateful. Regards.

Szczypak 64 20:41 November 06 2023 (GMT+2) OA, on New Qualitipedia, you need to give CJ, a serious talk, and punish him by demoting him permanently.--ChessGuy66 (talk) 19:48, 6 November 2023 (UTC) Oh and also, OA please lock his account.--ChessGuy66 (talk) 20:27, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

Hello, firstly, I do not appreciate the several messages on this topic that you have left on different wikis and then subsequently removed just to post on another wiki. Furthermore, I am quite busy, and do not have time to reply at the drop of the hat, which is what it would seem that you expect.
I'll address your first point about becoming an admin. Quite frankly, you do not seem mature enough to be an administrator, so there is—without being rude—no surprise that CJ has 'put you on the blacklist', as you may say. I've seen countless times you have pleaded to be promoted to an admin; being an 'active' editor is not really the defining characteristic of being made an administrator.
You're correct, there is nothing wrong with expressing opinion, and nobody should be sanctioned for that. In terms of Robin being demoted, I saw that situation unfold, and I believe that CJ took the right steps—there is an explicit rule on New QP that pages should not be copied; this is a non-negotiable. As such, it is no surprise that CJ took the steps he did due to Robin's actions.
Overall, I think everyone needs to just get along and stop being so—frankly—immature, this behaviour is reminiscent of the original Qualitipedia and if it continues I will just close the wiki. --Original Authority[talk] 11:44, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
Well, CJ isn’t a good leader, so imo he should be demoted.--ChessGuy66 (talk) 17:32, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
Also, CJ treats popular opinions as fact.--ChessGuy66 (talk) 17:33, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
What CJ could do is install a handful of competent deputies to clean things up. At this juncture someone like Tali would do as he has a milder temperament than most involved in reception wikis. With heavy guard rails Money could do some good if he stays out of civil and sticks to clerical things. Robin would be okay with guidance from a more senior figure. ChessGuy should not be an administrator by any means. This is nothing that hasn't happened before or won't happen again, though. This is what you signed up for permitting reception wikis to continue here in any form. Even cleaning up the 2-3 drama lamas that have hooked in now, it's what these wikis attract by their very nature. --Raidarr (talk) 10:14, 18 November 2023 (UTC)

What happened to New Qualitipedia?

The link to New Qualitipedia, newqualitipedia.telepedia.net, doesn't work. What happened to it? Is this an error? Money12123 (talk) 02:07, 25 December 2023 (UTC)

Hello Money12123, I am not aware that there were any issues that affected the wiki today, but it seems to have stabilised now—are the errors fixed on your end? --Original Authority[talk] 22:16, 25 December 2023 (UTC)
Yeah they were fixed. Money12123 (talk) 01:52, 26 December 2023 (UTC)

User Rights

I noticed earlier, but I had other things to do and I got sick, but it appears that I don't have user rights on Inside Out Wiki. I want to know of this could be fixed? Or did I miss something? Nicoh Watonshing (talk) 07:53, 26 December 2023 (UTC)

@Nicoh Watonshing: I have manually assigned you the rights; please let me know if there are any other issues. --Original Authority[talk] 12:55, 26 December 2023 (UTC)

Closure of RLVW

Hey, I dunno if you saw my messages on RLVW, but I am unable to log in to Phabricator using the MediaWiki tab. Whenever I click the option to authenticate my email, it doesn't send me the link like it should. Even when I try to log in to my existing Phabricator account and try to reset my password, I never receive the email link. I would absolutely like a data dump created of the site so hopefully we can set up shop elsewhere. Rangerkid51 (talk) 15:00, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello, yes I saw your message; there does seem to be an issue with the Phabricator login. I had a quick look but the solution yet evades me. Notwithstanding this, I will get a database dump done later tonight and leave a link on RLV for you to download it. --Original Authority[talk] 15:51, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
Please find the dump at this WeTransfer Link. -- Original Authority[talk] 13:04, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
