(Redirected from Counter Vandalism Team)

Spam and Bot Eradication (SABER) is a volunteer-based counter-vandalism team empowered by the Telepedia Platform to tackle spam, bot activity, and other forms of malicious behavior. SABER's mission is to ensure the integrity of the platform by swiftly addressing issues that disrupt the user experience or the platform's content standards. This includes not only dealing with spam and vandalism but also managing instances of abuse involving multiple or sockpuppet accounts. To support these efforts, SABER members are granted elevated privileges across the Telepedia platform, which allow them to take immediate action on potential threats. These privileges include but are not limited to the following capabilities:

  • Global blocking/locking of user accounts: SABER members can block or lock problematic accounts across the entire platform to prevent ongoing abuse.
  • CheckUser extension access: This tool allows SABER members to investigate suspicious accounts by checking IP addresses and other account details to identify potential sockpuppets or malicious activity.
  • AbuseFilter management: Members can create, modify, and manage AbuseFilter rules to prevent harmful edits and actions from being carried out by bad actors.

SABER members collaborate and coordinate their actions through the CVT Wiki, a specialized platform where team members share information, report incidents, and strategize their response to ongoing issues. This centralized coordination ensures that all actions taken are efficient and in line with the platform’s standards and policies.
